With each hire we make, our goal is to empower the individual to excel through industry leading training and career development opportunities. For starters, each of our security professionals must possess a valid security license. Read our earlier blog on how to get a security license in Canada.
Based in British Columbia? We are proud to offer one of the most affordable and thorough Basic Security Training certifications in the province. Students can learn remotely from the comfort of their own homes under the care of a certified security instructor. Our Basic Security Training Package includes a 40-hour online training course and three attempts at the BST Certification. Our next session will run from January 10-14, 2022. Don’t miss out!
Security guards can face an almost limitless number of scenarios and threats in their important day-to-day work. That’s why a security license isn’t enough to protect our team and our clients. We also put our security guards through a rigorous in-house training program called Blackbird Academy.
Our training program is Canada’s most comprehensive training school for security. Not only does it equip our guards to excel in their line of work, the specialized training received opens up several further career paths down the line. Modules include:

Our uniformed security guards are the backbone of our security team. They are dependable and flexible, and they’re equally at home in retail, the public sector, or industrial/warehouse settings. Their responsibility lies in the safety and protection of our clients’ employees, visitors and associated property. In a typical day, they are tasked with patrolling designated areas, responding to safety and security threats, and establishing a security presence on-site.
Our loss prevention officers are an invaluable frontline resource to protect our clients from theft. Deployed in a highly visible uniform, or undercover, they are experts in retail loss prevention, shrinkage reduction and non-violent crisis intervention. In a typical day, they patrol store aisles, monitor customers, answer customer enquiries, watch security camera footage, and confront suspected thieves in a calm and efficient manner.
When security is required for high-end luxury retail or black-tie events, our elite suit and tie security division provide discreet and effective protection. Acting as immaculately dressed frontline ambassadors, our elite security guards reflect the high standards of our clients’ brand, while delivering the high touch and personalized security service they expect. In a typical day, they patrol a designated area, respond expertly to safety threats, security threats, and customer queries – all while establishing a strong visual security presence.
One of Blackbird Security’s most popular services, our mobile security team offer all the value and coverage of a full-time guard, without needing to be on-site 24/7. Patrolling pre-determined routes on a randomized schedule, our mobile security guards eliminate crimes of opportunity, reporting any incidents they find using advanced reporting software. In a typical day, our mobile guards patrol an assigned premises, respond to threats, note any suspicious behaviour they encounter, and prepare client reports on their findings.
