Blackbird Security Safeguards Canada’s Federal Election Process

We were deeply honoured to provide security services at multiple Elections Canada polling stations during the 2025 Canadian Federal Election. Our security teams safeguarded over 50 polling locations in Metro Vancouver and the Greater Toronto Area. We’re proud to support such an important national event and help to create a safe environment for every citizen to make their voice heard and shape the future. 

At each location under our protection, we deployed at least one static guard along with mobile officers patrolling multiple polling locations, ensuring continuous coverage and swift response times to incidents.

Two Blackbird Security uniformed security guards and one mobile guard protected the Vancouver Granville Elections Canada office and 22 polling sites in Vancouver between 9 AM and 9 PM.

In Ontario, we safeguarded the Etobicoke North Elections Canada office and 32 polling stations on April 28th, with one site receiving additional overnight coverage. Between April 18 and 21, we safeguarded six early voting sites throughout Etobicoke.

It was a true honour to support these essential locations during the election. We appreciate Elections Canada for their trust in us!

Blackbird Security Partners with West Toronto Community Health Services

On June 5th, 2023, Blackbird Security proudly embarked on a new client partnership with West Toronto Community Health Services. This collaboration marked a significant milestone as we undertook the responsibility of providing security guard services with a unique mental health focus.

Our mission was to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents in this three-story building, which falls under the Toronto Community Services umbrella.

West Toronto Community Health Services houses both government-rented and privately rented apartments, catering to diverse populations, including vulnerable individuals. To address the complex security challenges this diversity presents, we implemented a comprehensive plan that includes a variety of protection measures, including enhanced access control, surveillance monitoring and de-escalation, regular foot patrols, and reporting.

Safeguarding Vancouver's German Consulate

We were awarded the prestigious contract to protect Vancouver's historic German Consulate. Our security guard services started in April 2023 and will continue throughout our 4-year contract. As we dive into the significance of this new partnership, let's take a moment to understand the importance of this new alliance with the German Consulate in Vancouver. 

Established in 1972, the German Consulate in Vancouver has fostered goodwill, diplomacy, and cooperation between Canada and Germany. This historic landmark embodies the strong ties between the two nations built on shared political, economic, and cultural interests. Over the years, it has provided essential services to German citizens residing in Vancouver and facilitated travel, education, and business opportunities for countless people.

Partnering With the City of Vernon

A partnership we’re particularly proud of is our involvement with the City of Vernon. Led by our supervisor Preet Pal, our dedicated team of security professionals work tirelessly to ensure public safety at Polson Park. Regular foot and mobile vehicle patrols allow our security guards to engage with park goers and residents in a friendly manner, ensuring the highest standards of customer service.

These guards receive training specifically designed to equip them for any possible scenario, including St. John’s Mental Health training, Occupational First Aid certification (including the administering of Naloxone), and cultural/social sensitivity training. This equips them to de-escalate situations, while working alongside RCMP and City Bylaw officers to ensure compliance with park rules.

We believe security companies like ours must approach individuals suffering from mental health and addiction issues with empathy and respect. It’s in everyone’s interest to prioritize de-escalating potentially dangerous situations while getting them the assistance they need.

Delbrook Community Centre, North Vancouver

Set against a picturesque mountain backdrop on the North Shore, Delbrook Community Centre is a valuable community hub where people of all ages come together to spend time, work out, and take group classes. Like other recreation centres in British Columbia, Delbrook brought in a mandatory COVID-19 vaccine policy in early September 2021, in accordance with provincial health orders. Delbrook’s management contacted Blackbird Security to see if our team could help administer their vaccine policy. 

Our team was stationed at the door of the community centre to check vaccination documents and handle any issues. Each of the guards stationed at the rec centre receives comprehensive customer service training that enables them to act as a helpful front-of-house ambassador for the facility.

In addition to Delbrook Community Centre, we partnered with several other City of North Vancouver facilities and community centres to administer their COVID-19 vaccine policies in 2021.
